A cooler note: SonarRadio Autumn Programme
As summer turns to autumn and the air gets cooler, SonarSessions takes a fresh new turn in it’s Thursday evening selection of lives from Sonar 2009.
Among this Autumns offerings running from Thursday 10th September, until November appear; Bass Chef, Luisine, Bullion, Byetone, Gaslamp Killer and Late of the Pier.
In September the Hackney bass wizard Bass Chef, brings fistfuls of syncopated dub to his live show, followed by Lusine from the Ghostly label, with his abstract, melodic and forceful electronica. Young Fathers offer a foray into console sounds, the aesthetic of the seventies, partying and good vibes!
October starts with The Gaslamp Killer, mixing the traditions of psychedelia and abstract hip-hop with slices of B movies, space jazz, esoteric rock and the world's strangest funk. The sound and show of Late of The Pier contain hints of funk, dance and rock, and a pinch of progressive while Byetone is always halfway between the structures and methods of techno and electro and the rough. Heartbreak take the sound of the eighties, from Italo disco to synth pop, to the most hysterical and dramatic extreme and The Sight Below delights in his melancholic arrangements.
Finally in November, Bullion, eclectic but always effective.
