Internationally renowned as one of the leading figures in electronic art and the experimentation scene, the career of Marcel·lí Antunez dates back 30 years, during which he has developed a completely personal and iconoclastic visual universe, based on a reflection on artistic systems of production, which he calls Sistematurgia, which has its own special and unique iconography. He has staged exhibitions and performances in museums, galleries, theatres and unusual spaces in more than 35 countries, including the Musée Européenne de la Photographie de la Ville de Paris, London's Institute of Contemporary Arts, the DAF in Tokyo, the MACBA in Barcelona and the ZDB in Lisbon. His work includes performances with robots, interactive installations and collaborations with collectives such as the Fura dels Baus, which he founded and led in the 1980s, and Los Rinos.
The interactive installation "Metamembrana" is the third episode of "Membrana," and was preceded by the two mecatronic performances of "Protomembrana" (2006) and "Hipermembrana" (2007). The audiovisual techniques used in this installation are the distillation of a painstaking development of graphic and interactive solutions that were created and used in previous installations. The installation is a projection in 16:3 format, which shows a single 12-metre image, and four interfaces which allow users to browse hypertext consisting of eight interactive microtales. The installation aims to create aspects that can be identified with, so that viewers feel as if they have participated in the work.
"Metamembrana" was produced by Anella Cultural, the CCCB, the I2CAT foundation and by the towns of Olot, Reus, Granollers, Lleida and Barcelona.
